Kānuka is a small hardy tree that grows in lowland forests and shrubland. It is ideal in difficult areas which are drought-prone or have poor fertility – it can even be used as a nurse plant for revegetation plantings. It has lots of small bright green leaves that are similar to Mānuka but softer to touch. In summer it blooms clusters of small white flowers that are attractive to bees.
