Known as the world’s largest fuchsia, Fuscia excorticata is a fast growing tree that is deciduous in cold climates such as in the central North Island. A favorite of the Kereru, it produces attractive red flowers in the Spring.

Found along stream banks, Kōtutuku is a useful riparian plant that can also be planted in the home garden.
